Serial number location

Another bit of information to look for once all the paint has been removed is the engine serial number and casting number. The serial number is unique to that engine and can provide information on what model of car it came from, and the year it was produced. The serial number is found on the right side of the block near the flywheel inspection arperture.

Casting number location

The casting number, found on each side of the block, indicates the number of the mould used as well as the HP rating for that engine.
